Hello everyone, I live in Pomona California (which is east of Los Angeles).
I am not currently riding as I don't have a bike. I haven't been riding in 10+ years.
While looking up some information on new road bikes I noticed someone had recommended this site to a person that wasn't getting a response to their question at another site.
I will be riding to have fun but mostly to get in better shape as I am in the biggest shape I have been in (6'3" 220#).
I am looking for an entry level bike. I have looked at Giant, KHS, Trek, Mercier, Cannondale, and Specialized at area bike stores.
Any thoughts as to which is better and why would be appreciated.
Thanks Jack

Welcome to BikeForums.

The brands you mention are all good brands so the choice is up to you.
Many new cyclists say they will be riding for fun. Then they quickly fall in love with cycling and wish they had bought a better bike.
If you think this is you, get a bike with Shimano Tiagra or better components.
And above all, go to a good bike shop and get a bike that FITS.

What he says is so true. I've been on my Giant Sedona DX for a bit less than a year now and am looking for a road bike already.

Hey, hey, another So. Cal. rider. Welcome to the forum. As mentioned before, once you start you can not stop. Cycling is very addicting as you will find out here on the forum and on your own.
