Northeast - Anybody in the NYC-area?

Anyone for late night rides in CC during the week? Supposedly, there is a decent number of people riding early morning, but it's so hard to get up. Instead, I ride around 10pm nightly ("inclement weather allowing") and it would be very cool to hook up with some more people.

Slevin, You mean Central Park? I ride there once or twice a week during the winter. I usually ride between 8:30-11. PM me if you want to meet up for a loop or two

i ride out in the park late night, around 9ish til 11, so i can join anyone riding then.

:beer: I saw some cyclist one sat. morning riding up towards highland park in bklyn.they were riding up cypress ave does any one have any info on this group name, contact# the looked like a pretty diverse group and i would like to join that ride

Not completely - we've for the most part broken off into groups going up to Bear Mountain and/or fun night rides/Times Up rides. This was buried; had to dig to find it (and there are two others that people started and stopped but this was the biggest).

Where are you exactly? I do go out through the winter, if your schedule's compatible maybe we can meet up for a not too fast spin sometime.

i'm in woodside, for now my commute is to the les for work and back, and i think my route there sucks anyways - i might try to find a new one... but i wouldnt mind riding other places. not at all

If you're coming all the way from Alabama I'd say do the TA Century instead. The 5BBC is a fun ride and you get to see a bit of all 5 boroughs (plus ride over the Verazzano). There are a TON of people though who never ride, there can be huge backups, one person who goes, "Hey look" and takes out 30 others, etc...

The 5BBT is good for slow cruising, talking w/ your friends and family, taking lots of pics and seeing a bit of each of the 5 boroughs. The Montauk Century Air mentioned is mostly flat and more of a cyclists ride w/ routes up to 140+ miles from Penn Station. I did the 5BBT last year and managed to avoid the block ups by starting near the front of the pack. If you can wait til Sept., the NYC Century is an excellent ride although you don't get to see Staten Island which is probably a good thing. ;)

Oh yeah, the Montauk Century is awesome too but you won't see much of NYC.

Yes...but for the most part it's wide shoulder, low traffic, or residential roads. Plus lots of bicyclists so safety in numbers.

I wasn't expecting to break any time records, but the thought of being far away from home with a messed up body does give me pause.

Thanks for the suggestion. My friend and I are looking at the 5BBT primarily as a way to get in some fun sightseeing.

We will ride again...and most get to the highest level of conditioning so that we can drink even more beer! You will have your Gatorskins by then so plan on riding non-stop to the brewery :D

And we will also be doing our roadtrip to DC as the spring gets closer...spare tubes-check, floor pump - check, three bike carrier (we can always fit one more - check!, Hilton points - check!, New York Locks - Check!. We're only missing one Aero-Bed for the first Trip :D
