Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Search problems and moved threads?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

To Whom It May Concern:

I recently subscribed to a thread to which I had posted a response. I recieved several new post notifications via email, but recently the thread was moved. When clicking on the links in the new post notifications, I am transported to the "bjorn, you do not have permission to access this page" page.

This is the link:
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=127476&goto=newpost

The thread is titled "Multiple choice test." If I then go to the "Search The Forums" page, and type in 'multiple choice test', I get several results, but none the thread so entitled. If I reduce the search to simply 'multiple' I get more results, but none of them the thread I want. I also posted in the thread, and it doesn't show up in the results of posts by bjorn (that's me).

BUT it does show up as "Moved" in the Foo forum, where I believe it was originally posted. If I click on the thread title there, I am redirected to the "bjorn, you do not have permission to access this page" page.

Okay, so was it deleted or what? If its deleted, then shouldn't it say "Deleted" instead of "Moved"? What if, for example, there was data in the thread that was of value, even if off-topic, abusive, or whatever? Should what I said be deleted if someone else broke the rules?

If it was indeed just moved, how come I don't have permissions on the thread anymore? And further, how come it doesn't show up in any search, but shows up in the forum view?

I actually don't particularly care about THIS post, but I could foresee the case where I, or others, may care about this happening at some point in the future, and it is poor interface at the least, as it clearly isn't communicating clearly to the user exactly what happened to the thread.

Thanks to anyone with insight.

Confounded,
Bjorn

It looks like this thread was moved to the trash bin with a re-direct. We (mods) often leave re-directs on moved threads so users can find the thread they are looking for, in a different forum.

When threads are moved to the trash bin, re-directs should not be left, hence this thread... I have deleted the re-direct, but for now, the thread will remain in the trash bin, where no users can access it.

Sorry for the confusion, mistakes happen :D
