I was riding my mt bike yesterday on a group ride. My chain was slipping something terrible front and back. A guy on the ride who turns a wrench for lbs gave me suggestions about chain length, and b screw. Going buy what he said, and park tools online help, I was able to determine that my problem was the jockey wheel was hitting cassete, and my chain was to long. Here is my question. Can these problems cause the middle ring to jump to smaller ring? Is there anything else I should check before I ride tommorow? I have a brand new drive train. When I installed the front Crank(new)and bb(new) I had to move the der towards the big ring. This leads me to believe that the front rings now sit more to the right than the old ones.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You probably need to do a complete FD readjustment, starting at the beginning with a loose cable, and shifter in smallest ring position. You know about park tool. One assumes you also used the correct BB/spindle for the new crank, and the whole business was installed correctly. It gives one cause to wonder in consideration of the B screw and too long chain issues.Also assume the chain is now the correct length??
