Introductions - New Cyclist in KY

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have recently purchased my first bike since I was a kid and I have just started to ride. I was a runner and a soccer player until last October when I dislocated my knee and tore my MCL for the second time and the doctor said "no more". So I decided to give riding a chance (its easier on the knees). I am currently living in Louisville, KY and should be moving to Boulder, CO in the up coming future, and I thought that maybe I could learn more about my new (expensive) hobby by joining this forum.

I grew up in Louisville and moved from there to Denver where I lived for a couple of years. The move to Boulder will be a bit of a culture shock. Take plenty of lip balm. It's dry out there.
Check into the Louisville Bicycle Club. You will be welcomed on their rides and you will learn a lot from riding with experienced folks. Before you know it you will be riding the Tour de Gil with the best of them.

It almost sounded like you said it's dry in KY. But that would be impossible. :D
You didn't say if you're getting into road biking or mountain biking, if you mounain bike I'd highly recommend checking out the forums at www.kymba.org. Lots of Louisville folk who'd be happy to show you the trails and such.
