Yesterday I was walking from the post office and a bee smacked right into my forehead, it was funny, it hovered in the air kind of stunned (I'm sure it was) and then took off. Today on a group ride another rider and I seemed to go through a flock of a few bumble bees, I guess, big and black I actually dodged one, weird. Then tonight I'm typing away here and I have the door open, and this mayfly comes in and ricochets between my hands a few times.

Yeah, it's June Bug season here in So Cal.

These brilliant irridescent green 1 1/2" long monstrosities are great.

I always enjoy catching one and putting it down the back of my sons' shirt.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

I had one of those "wasp in the helmet" incidents a few days ago finally. HOwever I did not panic like most people :p I was also lucky enough not toget stunk too.

I've got stung 5 times in three days. I was helping at a ranch. The last two were the worse. I woke up in my cot to the first sting on the top of the foot. As I tried to get out of the cot, another got me right in the middle of the arch of my foot.

I'm just glad I wasn't A.J. Foyt http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/news/080905_APlocal_foyt.html

I have a friend, a former entomology student, who goes around the world finding cicadas (we have them here every year) while he travels. His thing is to catch one, get a bunch of people looking at it, and then pop it in his mouth. Sometimes they buzz while they are in his mouth. It always freaks people out.

Yeah I got a bee in my helmet a few weeks ago, I undid the strap with one hand and swung it around in the air like a cowboy riding a bronc does with his hat. Then gave my head a shake so hard my lips slapped like a hound dog's then stopped and put the helmet back on. Just another day......

Cicadas are weird. Imagine a tree full of maraca players on speed and you've got ..... cicadas! Amazing the rest of the animal kingdom hasn't ganged up on them and exterminated them. No wonder they have that sneaky prime numbers thing for what years they come out of the ground.

Just having a few crickets in the room is annoying as hell when you're trying to sleep.

Oh the memories of when I had a pet tarantula. Of course for me the crickets aided the fan. Grew up camping alot, Boy Scout.

Bah! Bees are harmless. Always funny when they bounce off of you while riding. There's a split second warning, then 'buzzzzzipeewww!' Did you know Portland is the #1 city in the US for bee stings? Quite the distinction if you ask me.

Most bees who try hitchiking seem to end up drawing abstract art on the windshield. This clever lady managed to join us safely for a bit going through Utah.
