I'm looking to buy a road bike for commuting and just riding around. My budget is around 600. Any suggestions?

hmmm...at 6' 4" you should be safe from the realm of custom geometries. For commuting a general riding, I might recommend a cross bike. They usually offer good bang for buck entry into road riding, and offer quite a bit of versatility. If you are new to the sport, I would say that you should be sized properly by a local bike shop, as fit will be the most important thing in choosing a new bike.
