I've read Campy's literature for their Ergobrain computer which says that you can put the cadence magnet inside the Record titanium pedals. Well, if it works with the Ergobrain, why not my Polar cadence sensor (of course, I'll have to use a more powerful magnet).
Does anyone know if it works, and how you get the magnet inside the pedal?

I use generic disk magnets with several types of pedals. I usually superglue the magnet to the end of the pedal spindle. I see no reason for a "more powerful magnet". The distance from the magnet to the sensor is important, you'll want to have about 1/8" space. Simply move the sensor to set the space. You can mount the magnet on the pedal spindle or the crankarm and make it work as long as the spacing is correct. I bought a sack of magnets at a flee market for $3. Magnets sold for mounting on spokes can also be used for cadence. Sometimes I grind them to the shape I want for ideal mounting.
I do not mount a magnet to the crankarm with a zip tie because it will promote scratching and corrosion of the crankarm.

I assume you can superglue the magnet to the spindle and still get the pedal off if need be.

Yes, even if you get some on the threads you'll be ok. If you use red Locktite keep it off the threads.

I have used this method on two bikes, and not needed glue - the magnetic force is plenty.

A little Gorilla glue worked great! Is there no magnetic force with the titanium axle. So the glue was a must.

I assume then that they are older ProFit pedals, because for quite a while now Campa has added a steel plate at the end of the Ti axle on the off side for just that reason. At least for Record.

From their FAQ:

Q: How can the hidden magnet work with the Record pedals, given the fact that titanium is non-magnetic?
A: In the titanium spindle of the left Record pedal (starting from 2000 range) we inserted a tiny steel plate, to attract and keep in position the magnet.

Hey, you might be right after all. Who knew! Thanks.
