What you need is a Shimano 107.

edit: that's what I used to run on my Sugino 75's. No problem. The 105 is too short and the Miche is 103 which is even shorter.

I dropped the extra cash on a sugino super lap and it didn't even fit. I tried to use it to mount some sugino grand mighty cranks to an 01 pista. Some people said the 51T chainring was the culprit.

it's on there now with a shimano BB and it works.

Yup. I know I'm using a shimano cartridge BB, but I may be using 110mm actually, which works with my setup. I've heard the number 107 tossed around a bit though.

What exactly do you consider "very poor results"? Does your crank need to come out a bit more?

107 and 110 can both be used. The drive side is the same length on either - it's the non-drive side that sticks out more. So if you like a weird q-factor, go for the 110, otherwise 107 is your answer.

you can pick up the sugino 75 spindle on airbomb.com...you can find some cheap cups, probably on there too, and you've saved probably 40 bucks vs the superlap.

When you say "Shimano 105" do you mean the spindle length (i.e. 105mm) or the model (105 as opposed to Ultegra or Dura-Ace)?

Oh yeah? Well your mom's a weird q-factor!

Haha, now tomorrow I'll have to check how close each crankarm is to the chainstay with calipers. I hope this doesn't drive me nuts.

I don't think he means either, since
1. Shimano doesn't make a 105mm BB
2. a 105 BB is Octalink

ok so you guys suggest shimano 107/110 so ifi look on line what do i search for specifically, are there other variables? what do these bb;s usually run?

you will want a Shimano UN-52 (or 53) or UN-72 (or 73). The 7x is the higher quality version - which you should be able to get for around $25

The other variable is the BB threading of your frame ... English or Italian? English requires a 68mm width, Italian is 70mm. The thread direction is different as well.
