According to an article at cyclingnews.com on 8/7 it looks like Super Mario has postponed retirement. Sounds like he may even ride the Vuelta (Acqua e Sappone is riding) and the Worlds. I wish he would stay at least through the Giro next year to get his record.

For some reason I think he'll be around a fairly long time yet...

Rumor had it that Cipo's retirement announcement and its timeing was somehow just a grandstanding ploy, in protest of the TdFs/LeBlanc's bias in selecting teams. Sounds like the CyclingNews announcement substantiates that.

You know, so what? So he's grandstanding. I think he's a gas. I can't wait to see him in the vuelta and next year's giro and I hope he does the TDF next year. It'll probably be his last, and I want to see him roll out of the start house for the opening prologue dressed in some wacky skinsuit!

I agree, I really enjoy the Cippo. Next years Giro should be great!
