I'm trying to compile a list of new bike choices available (in USA or by mail) with an 8 speed hub. I rode the Breezer Uptown 8 and have my eyes on several more, the Uptown 8 seems expensive at $849 but nice. I'm sure the wealth of knowledge here will add some bikes I didn't know existed. European commuters like the Kettler are fine as long as I can find one here in the US. Any choices besides the Nexus 8? I'm aware of the amazing Rohloff but I've heard the hub itself is $1,500? I guess I should say I'll be riding the bike mainly on paved trails/ roads 5-10 miles per day with the occasional 20-30 mile ride. Some hills but nothing extreme. Suspension fork not needed but I do like a suspension seatpost. 700 wheels would be more appealing than 26's.

Thanks in advance for reponding to my first post.

Bikes @ Vienna has all sorts of bikes, including Kettler and Breezer. Given that parking in the DC area can be $10 a day or more, I'd consider $849 chump change.

Cannondale makes one:

Not cheap, but well made. One of the dealers in MD carries a made-in-China off brand that has a Nexus hub and shaft drive. I've heard they've got alot of rolling resistance and are only ok quality.

How's the SRAM Spectro S7 compare to the Nexus 8? The Burley Runabout 7 comes with the SRAM S7 hub gear.
