Hi,
Do you use a voice recorder to journal and collect thoughts while touring? If so, which one and hows has it suited your needs?
Thanks.

I don't use it specifically for touring, but I use the Olympus DS-2.
I tried Panasonics (most don't have a pause feature while recording), Sony (did not like the button layout), and then settled on Olympus. It has all the features I need and sounds terrific.
I now use it daily. Where I go it goes.
I'd much rather misplace my cell phone than my VR.
I use it to record my thoughts throughout the day, then review it since I keep a daily written journal.
I used a cassette recorder. fullsize cassettes.. I have two hours of solid rambling from my tour.. it great to look back on..
bring one!

I had a friend who toured this summer with a digital camera and an iPod Photo.
He saved his best photos on the iPod, and used the microphone/speaker attachment
to save .wav audio files. He stayed at motels, etc. so he was always able to recharge the batteries.

How did your friend get his photos onto his iPod when he was touring?
I only used the recorder to record sounds and events, like when I went to see the Pope at the Papal Audience last year, and the sounds of stuff like bells ringing, trains passing, etc.

The iPod 'camera connector':

iPod photo has a photo import feature which allows you to import files directly from your digital camera's
DCIM folder to your iPod, and then import them to your computer.

Very nice - sweet indeed! This is good to use for a means of backing them up. However, if they are moved (deleted) off of the camera, then it is not a backup, rather the only copy. I usually carry multiple memory cards, but it would be nice to copy them onto my iPod too. I have a 20g iPod with color display. It's not the Photo iPod (http://www.freephotoiPods.com/?r=15958055) , but I think that camera connector will work for mine too.

Yeah, it's kind of nice to have some of the sounds from the events or experiences you encounter. The sound can even be added to a photo slideshow.
I do a lot of thinking when I'm out on my journeys. I like to capture my thoughts to review later.

Perhaps, but I beleive the 'camera connector' works with the iPod Photo Dock, which is not compatable
with older iPods, but you should double-check that before taking my word on it.

I checked with Apple's site and it states that the camera connector is "Compatible with iPod with color display."
Thanks jack.
