I have the Marin Bobcat Trail in a 13.5" frame. My question is this. When I have the water bottle in place I don't see how I can mount a U-lock to the frame. Is it possible? If someone has a pic to show me how it's done I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I once had a mounting bracket that held the staight part of the lock next to the seat tube, while the U was next to the rear wheel pointed back towards the rear hub. It cost artound $5. I allowed for mounting water bottles on the down tube and the seat tube.

maybe mount it someplace else? i know there are widgets that let you carry a lock on your handlebars or back along the rear triangle... on my MTB i hang it on the rear rack, but that only works if you have a rack...

handlebar widgets above (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=102&subcategory=1120&brand=&sku=3204&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=)

i know there's other stuff out there, too. good luck!

I have the mounting bracket for my u-lock on the top tube, rotated slightly so the lock hangs right beside the bottle cage. The angle is slight enough that it doesn't get in the way of my legs.

Thanks to all for the excellent suggestions. I'm thinking that I can mount a bracket on my seat post and have the U-lock pointing towards the rear wheel. However, the bracket would have to be horizontally mounted. Most brackets I've seen are vertically mounted. Anyone know if there's such a thing as a swivel bracket?

The Kryptonite mount may work on other brands as well. It'll mount up just about anyway you imagine. I've tried vertical and horizontal with success. It's the "EZ Mount Bracket"

I don't see how the EZ Mount Braket can mount a lock horizontaly ... as the mounting bracket connects to the U part of the lock (granted it can face any direction). I think what the above user is looking for is a mounting bracket that holds the big part of the lock ...

I have a 21" frame ... and with a water bottle and wedge bag ... I can't find a place to mount even a mini ULock.

No problem anymore. The mounting bracket that came with my Krptonite lock allows me multiple positioning on how I can mount my lock....vertical, horizontal, or at an angle. I mount it on my bar stem now.
