Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi,
I'm currently bicycling Route 66 from Santa Monica to Chicago. I'm now near Williams, Arizona and the Grand Canyon and was hoping to meet some of you that live in AZ, NM, TX, OK, MO, and IL.
Website is located at Route 66 without Airwick (http://www.route66.crazyguyonabike.com)
Having a great time, please drop me a note and say hello if you'd like to ride a segment or have a q.
Thanks,
Hank

I have fond memories of childhood car trips over that old road (nearly every summer of my childhood, CA to TX, 1955-65, when it was the road), and would love to do it by bike; in fact, I was wondering just a couple of weeks ago if anyone had done it and written about it, and there you were, posting here yesterday.
I haven't done any bike touring yet, but I'm definitely going to in the next year or so, and Route 66 is on my list of dream trips. So I'll be following your trip with great interest. I've read your other journals, too, with huge vicarious enjoyment.
Happy travels. I think Arizona will come around. ;)
I live near rote 66 in central Oklahoma. There are some good stretching for riding through here, and lots of local sources of route history and info. Let me know when you plan to cross central OK-between OKC and Tulsa-and I will try to catch up with you for at least a day ride. Edd
