Can I get some recommendations of a good reasonably priced slick or road tire for my mountain bike? It needs to be able to withstand touring. I was recommended by an LBS owner to Geax Reverts either 1.6 or 1.8. Anyone have experience with these tires or can you give me a thumbs up on something else?

This is the smallest / fastest.
For touring be prepared to have to change a few tubes and even a tire in the middle of nowhere so I would stick to a readily available tire that accepts tubes available at any small town Kmart on a Sunday .If you get a fancy tire at least know the readily available tire and tube size that will fit your wheel.

Or you can carry a spare tube and patch kit in case KMART finishes going belly up.
The above would not work if you ever get a regular road bike with presta tubes.
I mentioned Kmart on Sunday because that actually happened to me in Marathon in the Keys(otherwise Walmart is cheaper LOL).If you get a cut in your tire you can go through a number of tubes and if anyone can get a patch to hold on the road they are doing better than me.With the weight of a loaded bike and the usu. road debris and road conditions I would be prepared to change a few tubes and even a tire.
