Is anybody familiar with the Diamondback line of Hybrids. They have a bike called the Menona that appears to have similar parts to the raleigh c200 and the Giant Cypress LX.
One of the differences is in looks. The Diamondback is a gloss red with lots of black on its parts. Has a cooler look to it. I thought Diamondback was marketed more for the younger rider and Raleigh the older.
Is that true ? If that is so, that would explain the looks.
Is the quality suppose to be the same. There are some differences. I notice that Raleigh goes up to size 23. I need a size 21, maybe closer to a 20 but they come in odd sizes. Diamondback only goes up to a 21. I checked the geometries because I was curious how different the frames were and I noticed the D21 is bigger then the R21. My concern is that if I ask the LBS to order the D instead of the R, it may not be a good fit. I already tried an R19 and now he is going to try and find a R21.
This diamondback issue all started because I was going to buy the 2005 Raleigh C200 and they did not have my size and were having problems locating one in that size because it was saturday plus Raleigh is in the middle of transitioning to 2006 models. I was not sure if I wanted a "white" bike which the 2006 c200 is it (passage 5.0). The 2005 is silver/black. I went looking for alternates that he could order and I found this Diamondback. Have not talked to LBS because that was on saturday and the store was closed on sunday.
Any comments on Diamondback Hybrid bikes. Check out the menona on the diamondback website and let me know what you think. It looks like they did not have an equivalent one for 2005.
