Mountain Biking - Double on a MTB?
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I saw Chris Eatough's Top Fuel 110 on Cyclingnews (actually got to have dinner with him earlier this year), and he was running a double.
I can't seem to find a double anywhere commercially, are they available for MTB?
Also, why aren't compact doubles being used in MTB?
Hmmm... doubles have always been quite popular on MTBs for specific applications. Take a look at some of the DH setups from the past which favoured larger rings or some of the FR setups lately which favour smaller rings and a bash guard.
Here's a Kona Stinky that comes stock with a double (bash/36/26).
And here's a replica of John Tomac's bike that he rode to his 1990 World Championship DH win.

Hmm, what about for XC? Like that XTR (or rather XT) double?
thanks for your reply ...
