Is anyone else as mad as I am that Pink Floyd seems to sound as good as they did in the 70's and yet they refuse to tour, or make a new album?

Hey, a title like this has to be earned.

They've been there, done that. Why should they re-unite for a bunch of whining, pissant fans? If they are/were smart, they have enough money to carry themselves for the rest of their lives. you tour because you either want/like to or because you're promoting an album; you don't tour just because your fans want you to.
And god forbid they should tour again. If they tour again, I wil have to endure even more of my husband quizzing me "Who's that?" every time they play on the radio. When we were dating he noticed I was severly Pink Floyd deficient and thus took it upon himself to remedy my deficiency. . .

No, im not upset at all. And im a life long fan. Now if someone would kindly tell the Stones to stop, then all will be right with the world. When i saw them in 1988 on the Steel Wheels tour, i thought for sure they wouldnt stil be at it 17 years later. And whats with the Ameriquest Mortgage sponsorship? Sheesh! Enough already.

Heh, heh, he sez I have remedied other things he is deficient in. . .

AND the greatest heavy metal band of all time. I'm sorry; there's no room for debate on this point, not even on an internet forum.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I love Priest, but, for me, Sabbath is the bestest!:D Oh, as for Floyd...I just don't think it would be the same. Plus, what foehn said. I guess the Stones really like touring, or they're broke(which I find hard to believe).

Yeah, I think I navigate around this with some kind of a legal technicality, like "Black Sabbath is actually Hard Rock," so both bands can be the all-time best of their respective genres. I think I've had to come up with separate classifications for Priest, Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake and Palmer, AC/DC, UFO, BeBop Deluxe and Rush. It's a logistical nightmare, let me tell you.

I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, but I can't say I really want to see them get back together again. I was glad to see Roger Waters and the rest put their differences behind them and play again, but I don't see any good coming from a permanent reunion. That's just me.
The REAL Pink Floyd reunion I would like to see would involve Syd, and that is impossible.

You can say that again. They can't need the money. Well Keith Richards might have smoked/snorted/injected away all of his dough, but Mick sure looks like he's got what he needs.

Dang, somebody that remembers UFO!
Saw them and AC/DC together spring of 1979.

Solidarity, sibling! NOW you're talking. I'm surprised they were with AC/DC in the Spring of '79. That's wild—I saw them April 13, 1979 with Judas Priest and Wireless at the Paramount Northwest in Seattle. Greatest of all concerts, and what a venue. I saw AC/DC around '79 backing—and totally outclassing—Aerosmith. Keep riding, rural. There's something going on at the corner of the block…

Damn shame, too! Of course, I have a huge list of performers I'd like to see, but can't due to, um, death. Hendrix, Joplin, Cash, etc....
I was happy to see 'em at Live8 and would love to see a tour, but Roger won't do it. Too many differences with the band.
I thought they were good at Live8. I really wasn't expecting much, but they sang and played okay. I haven't seen David in about 10 years. Never would have recognized him.
Agree about the Stones... Make it stop, already...

Cliff Burton is without question, my favorite dead musician. His death ruined metallica in my opinion.

Yes, I'll be very sad if they don't tour. Especially because of how much fun it looked like they were having at Live8.

I also thought it looked like they were having a lot of fun at live8. I think the problem is they don't need or care for more money, and they probably don't want to deal with the stress of touring. They obviously practice all the time by themselves and remain extemely talented. They don't seem to care about their fans, only entertaining themselves, and perhaps once in a while trying to stop hunger in Africa. Still, they could at least make a new cd or something.

Maybe it was just me, but it didn't look to me like they were having THAT much fun at Live8. Roger and the rest of the lads haven't been on good terms for years (15-20 years at least). There have been lawsuits and other nastiness. I think it was great that they buried the hatchet, but I don't think the hatchet was buried under much dirt. They may work things out, and they may record, but I really don't foresee any major touring. Touring is hard work (especially with the spectacle that PF was famous for) and I don't think any of the guys in PF need the money. Maybe a couple of shows in the big cities could happen, but don't expect to see them in a city near you.
