The back rim bearings are really messed up... and I believe the front bearings are going too. All I wanna know is if I can replace them with sealed bearings. DansComp says the sealed bearings will only work in hubs that already have sealed bearings, but I don't believe this, because I have seen cranks go from non-sealed to sealed. Would I just pop out the cups in the hubs like you do with the crank... and what size should I get for a 2002 Haro Dave Mirra 540 Air?

Does not work that way.

When you switch the b.b. barings from ball to sealed you also have to switch the b.b. cups. This is because sealed bearings will not work in ball bearing cups, and vice versa. Same goes for hubs. You also cannot switch the cups in hubs since they are a intergrated part of the flange. You have to replace the ball bearings in your hubs with an identical diameter bearing. If youo want saled bearing hubs then get a new wheelset. Sorry that is the way it is.

Most hubs are 'sealed'.For what good it does in many cases. Too many peole confuse cartridg bearing hubs with 'sealed',but that ain't the case.Loose ball and cone are also sealed.

Ok then, do you guys know if the alex triple walls have cup bearings... not the cone and loose bb's. Cause I have not been having any luck with that setup. The alex double walls are nice but the bearing suck, the cones are being ripped apart.

Alex triple walls are the rims. The hubs are what have the bearings. What hubs are laced to the rims?

Mmm... I dunno... I think I will just ride these rims till they lock up.

Take the bike to your LBS and have them look at it.
