I just found these forums and have found them to be very informative and interesting.
I started biking seriously in school in the early 80s after a summer of being a bike courier. I got the bug and bought my first real bike, a Marinoni race bike which I raced in Cat 3 (the entry level division at the time) criteriums around Montreal. I was never competitive, but had a lot of fun. I also did some track riding at the Olympic Velodrome (they've since ripped the track out and turned it into a Biodome).
My wife and I stopped riding regularly in the mid-90s when our son was born. This summer, we started getting out regularly again. When we finish our rides, I switch to my old non-suspended Kona mountain bike and take my 10 year old son out to the trails around our house. Hopefully he'll get the bug, I'll start him road biking in a couple of years, and he can start pulling in a few years :D
A side effect of biking is the itch to get a new bike. I'm amazed by the advances that have been made in bike technology since I bought my second road bike (another Columbus SL Marinoni) in 1990. I'm considering the new 2006 Litespeed Siena New Litespeeds for '06 (http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=492433;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25;guest=4333916)
My previous/current bikes:
early 80's Edwin track bike (French aero tubing, built in Edmonton, custom built for a member of Canadian national track team)
1984 Marinoni (Columbus Aelle tubing) - now my brother's
1988 Fisher Advance - now my brother's
1990 Marinoni (Columbus SL)
1993 Kona Cinder Cone
