I was watching TV the other night and saw a program on "the minds of daredevils".They touched on Surfing, Base Jumping , and other outdoor sports. One fellow said that "flow" was when you reached a place where its just you and what you are doing.Thats the only thing in the world at that time.So for us it would be you ,your bike and the trail. You stop thinking and just react and ride.Thats a great place to be.I just got in from a ride and the trails were the best they have been all year. It felt like the bike was on rails and I just let it rip.The place I was riding was empty so it was just me and the trail........... thats a really great place to be.

Yea that's how it was with me and the trails this afternoon on my new bike. I hadn't ridden in almost a year since my friend borrowed my bike and left it in the rain, and everything rusted, and being out on the trails again was like Exstacy.

"flow" term coined Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. here's a little link (http://www.brainchannels.com/thinker/mihaly.html)

it's a good time, and he's done some good research.

FLUID is the word I say over & over to myself.... If you can " be as one" with the trail you're riding, then you can experience what he/she's talking about....

Who needs a Pollock (Csikszentmihalyi) to stick words in your mouth....

What do you think is good about it? It seems to me to be more a description of people's experience, which is relatively uninteresting. I want explanation of how people achieve "flow," which he doesn't give.
