General Cycling Discussion - slime self healing tubes

Hello,
I searched the forums and googled it fully. Slime as we all know makes a self healing tube. I read some rants on how they are heavy. But personally i dont really care much about that. I heard about them being acidic and them destroying tires when flats occur. Is this true? Also when a flat occurs are you supposed to patch it at home or leave it be? Any experiences? Pros+Cons for commuting?

i had them on a commuting machine.

I run regular tubes with about an ounce of slime added...........no flats

largely ineffective, based on the customer or so per day we get with a flat and a mess. opening those up is like christmas, if you're into green gooey messes.

No kidding. worse still, when you have that catstrophic blowout you'll have this gooey green lubricant between your rim and flat tire. Bad ju-ju, let me tell ya. I'm still running them until I need to swap 'em, but won't replace them after my blow-out experience.

I quit using them, I found the slime mucked up the valves to the point I couldn't reinflate the tires.
