Let me first say I had typed out a nice, LONG introduction and it was somehow lost before I posted it, so this will be short. Maybe I'll type out details again, we'll see how this goes. :D

Anyway, here's my story (short version)...

I decided to try cycling after becoming interested talking to a co-worker of mine. Not knowing anything about cycles (cars are my thing), he has been mentoring me. I am cheap. I buy an old, cheap 10-speed Schwinn. I learn a few things about the mechanics, go for some rides, and fall in love.

I get over my fear of "spandex" along with quickly outgrowing my Schwinn. I now own an 03 Cannondale R600 that I think the world of. I've been doing my own mechanics on this one and it's better than ever. I'm proud of myself.

I have been mostly going 20-35's on trails up until now. My friend thinks I'm ready for hills (I have been improving) so he takes me out on the road and crushes me with some serious hills on a 35 mile ride. I had a blast. I love it more now than ever.

I have lost almost 20 pounds so far, which was really the whole reason I started - it's well beyond my reasons now -- even though I'm only down to 195 pounds so far (6'1").

Oh, and this has been about 5 weeks now. How's that for progress?

I'm in it for the long haul, and looking forward to every mile. This looks like a fun place to be, and just from cruising around here I've learned alot.

Feel free to reply! :D
