Social Distortion's cover of "Ring of Fire" (Johnny Cash)
Goldfinger's cover of "Rio" (Duran Duran).
Bowling For Soup's cover of "I Ran" (Flock of Seagulls)
Mike Ness' cover of "You Win Again" (Hank Williams Sr)
This one isn't on any CD's, but Twisted Sister (I know I know) used to do a great version of "It's Only Rock and Roll" when I used to see them every weekend at a bar on Long Island.

Egad! They were the Friday night band!!!!
At this dive called Hammerheads (a converted Supermarket) in West Islip, Twisted Sister would play once a month on Saturday nights (3 sets each night). Zebra was the band that did the same thing, only on Friday nights. I remember the lead singer from Zebra having a rather 'falsetto' voice.

Candys Gone Bad, first done by Golden Earing but I first heard it done by The Godz.
I STILL listen to the Godz! One of those bands that just 'missed' it.

The Pixies did a cover of Head on by Jesus & Mary Chain that was nothing short of brilliant. The JAMC even came out saying that The Pixies had managed to make one of their favourite tracks even better.

The Wedding Present's cover of Come Up and See Me is also pretty damn good.

Dead Kennedy's are cool.....I used to be into them back in my early college days. Punk Rock Girl era.

Remember:
We're so bored, we're drinking bleach......

Bob Seger made this recording of white noise called "Turn The Page". Metallica then went on to take the concept and turn it into a song.

I really like Gerry Rafferty's song "Baker Street", and the Foo Fighters made a nice version of it recently.

Aside from being the absolute, undisputed Queen of Rock 'n Roll,
Joan Jett has more AzzKicking covers that actually work than any
other band in the history of modern civilization !!!
