It's only August, but I can feel it coming. When I'm on my way home from work, I find myself sometimes thinking that I need arm warmers. Sometimes I make it home without breaking a sweat. Not that I'm not working, just that the air is cooling me so fast. Soon, very soon, we'll be back to real riding weather. No more of this high temps and humidity, back to driving snow, goggles and a facemask. Three layers of clothes and steam rising from them when we stop. Frozen water in our bottles. Icycles hanging from beards, tears from the wind freezing halfway down the cheek.

I cant wait!!!!

:D

Ah, I can't wait! I remember that only three or so years ago the idea of riding when the temperatures drop below +20C unthinkable (that's about 68 F, my American friends :)). And now I am all eager about doing it at -20C (-4 F) and below. We'll see how it goes... This will be my first time...

Living in Virginia is going to be a new, but great experience for me. Normally, I'd get cold chills at the thought of winter, but I get warm fuzzy feelings now. ;)

I too have had morning commutes in the 30s already this year. Heck, we have even had 2 SNOW ADVISORIES this August! The trees here are beginning to change to their autumn colors! Early for this to be going on! I don't know if I have the same enthusiasm as others, but have no choice but to accept the looming change.

I was just thinking about this as well. Everyone I mention this to thinks I'm nuts, but all I can think of is wool sweaters, cycling. hot drinks, and riding on frozen lakes.
