Any recommendations? Any you would absolutely not use? The one that's been your perfect tire?

If you need solid glass/thorn protection, do a google on bicycle, tire, aramid.

How much do you want to spend??
What type of tire...racing or just riding around.

I use the michelin proRace and Michelin carbon. happy with both.

Specialized armadillo is bomb proof.

Not the best solution, but when my rear tire was getting a bit fworn, I switched it around with my front tire.

That is absolutely the most wrong thing to do.

NEVER put a worn tire on the front. Wait till your rear wears out, then switch the old tire to the rear, and the brand new one to the front. Always.

Conti 1000 - my tire of choice over ~30,000 miles of riding.

Hutchison's are good too. I liked the way my bicycle handled with a Hutchison folder on the front, but they are expensive.

BIG BIG mistake.
When rotating tires, 1) toss the rear tire, 2) move the front tire to the rear, 3) put the new tire on the front.

My choice for a road tire - Continental Grand Prix 3000. I average 1500 miles between flats, and that's riding through all the trash and debris on Atlanta's crappy streets.

Conti Ultra Gatorskins - folding. Best tire I have ever used.

Thank you all for your advice. I actually found some Hutchinson's for 5 bucks on Performance, So I figured for that price I may as well try them out. My original tires lasted me about 2000 miles. Is that about average? My front tire looks great.

I use Conti GP3000's. I ditch the back tire when it gets worn and move the front to the rear. The front always gets the new rubber. Typically, I'll move the front to the rear at about 2000 miles and it will go another 1500-2000 before needing replacement. The tires are light, pretty robust and I have confidence in them. You can get them well under retail if you shop a bit.

Well I gotta say that after all these months I am still very pleased with the tires. Best 5 bucks I've ever spent.

Does the front tire wear more quickly on all bikes? I would figure a fat ass like me would put more weight on the rear (i've bent a few wheels thank you very much) and cause it to wear faster. But what do i know.

The rear tire wears more quickly.

But you should have your good tire in the front because of the handling issues.

Bontrager Racelite Hardcase. I got 3800 miles on a rear tire.
