Mountain Biking - Some Missouri trails

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

alright the situation being, i'm staying here in town for community college this year, and i have friends going off to school, when i go visit them i sort of want it to be a dual purpose visit, see them, hit some trails around them. Alright so i have quite a few friends going to UMR(University of Missouri Rolla) and in the MTNF(Martk Twain National Forest) there is the Kaintuck Hollow Trail. Has anyone ever ridden it and would you recomend it. Secondly i also have some friends going to school at UMKC (" " " " Kansas City) and theres the Sports Complex Park, which is supposed to be a trail developed by Mountain Bikers, so once again any one ever ridden it and would you recomend it. Thanks so much

I've riden some of the Berryman Trails before and they were pretty nice. This book would probably have some good ideas:

Not familiar with the southern trails that much. Depending on what kind of rider you are, you might check out the Berryman trail between Potosi and Cuba. It's 26 miles of XC single-track bliss. Gotta be in good shape and bring lots of water, though. Nearby is the Council Bluff trail. It's a great 13 mile intermediate trail. All single-track. Both of these trails shouldn't be more than an hour and 30 minutes from Rolla. If you're around the St. Louis area, you have to do the Chubb. Fast single-track in spots and some of the mankiest, technical, rocky switchbacks you'll fine anywhere in others. Do a Google search and see what pops up.
