General Cycling Discussion - Folding U-locks???

BikeGuard offers a folding U-lock model which fits my bike. In other words, the lock will mount on my bike without a problem. With regular U-locks there is just no room.

Does anyone have one and has anyone read any reviews as to the quality or reliability of these locks?

The sales person told me that they are good. However, I bought the Kryptonite U-lock which also comes with a 4-ft cable instead. I found a way to mount it on my 13" frame bike. :D

Hmm, on that site, looking at the "lockjaw", they had this quote:

" Upon returning to your Lockjaw secured bike, not only will it still be there, but it might just be covered in the blood, sweat, and tears of the would-be thief that you successfully foiled. "

That sounds nasty. I don't want my bike covered in bodily fluids.

I think you sent those pictures to me in another ULock mounting thread I was participating in. :)

Yeah, besides trying to avoid any name-calling as I ride by ... I can't use the handlebar for mounting ... as the headlight, cell phone, and computer are located where you put each of the three mounts.

I'm looking for other places to put the lock ... and before anyone says it, yes, I considered the seatpost ... it doesn't work there because I have a wedge bag under my seat.

A "gold" rated lock can stop or delay most Pro crooks for ten minutes or so. A "silver" rated lock can stop an run-of-the-mill crook.
