I was run down this morning by a guy who tried to pass in my lane. I was traveling at 55 km/hr when some guy in a mini van came up on me honking his horn so I pulled over to let him pass. As I came up on the next light he was in the right turn lane and started yelling at me so I told him he should read the cycling laws. He flew back into my lane and tried to run me down. Luckily I managed to hop the curve but still wiped out onto the side walk. No major damage but boy this world is nuts. :(

Always get their license plate and report them...this is attempted vehicular homicide. The least that would happen is a simple assault charge but he'd still lose his license.
At the time he tried to hit me he was tralvaling at a very high speed so by the time I got up he was about 200 meter away from me.

Using your rear view mirror, check for traffic in the left lane. Change lanes. Wave him through with middle finger. Let him pass. If you get to him at a light, and he is stopped, put some distance between you and him. Then, do your road rage thing, if you must. If he gets out of the car, you can make a quick exit. He's toast. Checkmate.
Always put some distance, if possible, two lanes of traffic, between you and him, if you must engage in road rage. You can taunt him, yell obscenities at him all you want. Use the speed differentials and the bike's quick manuverability to your advantage.
NEVER GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO GET PHYSICAL. If you want to kill the guy, let the traffic do it for you. Spare yourself felony assualt.
What do fighter pilots do in combat? They always try to get behind the bad guy. Always think of ways to get behind or adjacent, with some distance, to the wild and crazy driver. Then, LET LOOSE WITH YOUR OWN ROAD RAGE!

I know the feeling as some snaggle toothed fool brained red neck tried to run me down in a pickup truck last year.
I had no conversation with this moron, he just saw me and came straight for me head on with no intent of stopping. I had to find a way out.
Unless you have camera attached somewhere you're off road in the ditch with no recourse.
I guess it's a world wide cyclist hate phenomenon?

Actually it's world-wide stupid people phenomenon. We happen to be easy targets.
As soon as I realize I have a problem driver I get behind him and get the license plate number just in case he tries something stupid.

What good is a license number if the cops don't care? http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=131929
