Been lurking about a month and am truly impressed with the knowledge, comraderie and willingness to share.

The reason I got back into riding after 40+ years started out to be purely medical. I am 65 (yes kids, that is years) and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and 100% blockage of the femural artery in my right thigh. So without being too dramatic, I am riding to save a leg.

On June 1st I could not ride a mile without resting to let the pain subside. Now my routine is six miles on three nights and eleven miles on three nights with resting on the seventh day of each week and increasing. Might be doing some good, huh? Yeah I know that compared to what I have been hearing here it doesn't sound all that great but I am now pretty optimistic.

I started riding for purely medical reasons but while on my bike I feel like a kid again and am having a blast ( even when the thighs are on fire and yelling at me to act my age).

Sorry to be so long winded, see ya.

Hay, everybody look, another addict. Welcome to the addiction.

Your doing good!

If you can come up next friday (the 23rd) & saturday to Whicita Falls (and the Hotter than Hell Hundred) and see what the addiction is all about. You will see more two tone hair (gray & flesh) children playing than you would belive possible.

I started riding when I had the MI and my wife was worried that she was going to have to pay extra for a coffin that would fit my wide a$$.

Ten years later, the only drugs I take for my heart or blood pressure is Chanti and asprin.

Congratulations on finding the bike as a therapuetic tool. Works wonders for the young and younger. You'll find there are several people here in their 60's and not an old person among them.

WELCOME!
