Just curious, my track cog side of my suzue flip flop hub, is the one with two types of threads? also, that has to have a lockring for the reverse pedaling, deceleration thing, or it will just zoom right off the threads? How could it be, that in my greenness, I knew more about fixed gear than a guy at the lbs? He said the lockring was threaded wrong and wouldn't go on?!?! I don't know, but what I know, I owe it all to the forums.
Can' wait to rip in the snow this winter on some cycloX tires!

yes. yes. hmmm. I don't know, but what I know, you might want to try another shop if they were just trying to thread it in the wrong direction.

I have no experience with the suzue basics (just promax SB), but according to a lot of posters, you may have trouble making them last until the winter. Not to bring ya down, just a little warning.

Shop owner actually has a fixie and did some track and other racing, back in the day. but his goons weren't up to snuff when I picked up the wheel. But I do need the lockring right?
I can always repack the bearings in the hub right?
anyway, I am rolling right now. put 9 miles on each way to work.

Yes, you need the lockring.

And less caffeine.

just keep a close eye on the bearings and the cone adjustment. Like anything else, they'll last longer when properly adjusted and looked after.
