Seems i puthe last post in the wrong place..ooops.
well, i started riding about 2 months ago, and am hooked, almost exclusively road miles, my mountain bike is very lonely, but here is the dilema. I like to ride every day, but when i got 40 or 50 miles a day after 4 or 5 days i really seem to struggle to keep good tempo and my times slow bad. I f i go really long every 3 days i feel great and just zip along. So should i go maybe every other day, or drop the milage if i go every day. Just bought a new Trek so I'm way pumed about that. If it helps i usually do 50 miles in around 3-3.5 hours. Thx in advance.

Monte,

to start off, welcome to the forums.
I would say what you did was the classic overtrain.
You don't have to ride every other day, just take it
easy on the days that you don't ride hard.
Since you stated that you're fairly new to road
riding, give yourself some time to get adjusted
to the difference between road and mtb.
Check the training and nutrition thread for more
information on training schedules, overtraining,
burnout etc.
