Got hit by 4 kids on 2 bikes (2 per bike and no helmets of course) and besides some major bruising to my body, my Pista's front rim got bent. Having a hard time finding this Alex 400AT rim. My 20 mile commute on my Pista gets me some miles in on long work days. Any ideas so I am not relegated to many more barbaric days of driving in lieu of my sweet fixie?

I replaced my rear rim with a black Alex DA 28. Looks quite nice and is a little beefier. Can't you get your shop to order Alex rims for you for you?

See if your LBS can true it first, I remember being ready to write off a wheel and my LBS trued it right up.

Any 700c front wheel/rim will work. It can even be QR.

I would take this as an opportunity/excuse to upgrade. A good way to do things a little bit at a time. Why replace with the same mediocre parts?

V,

My LBS can get some Alexrims but not the stock on the pista. Also, the 2005 pista has that dull silver/chrome looking rim--hard to match in color. Looks like I am going to have to go with a slightly better Mavic silver rim with a slightly different profile--such a bummer to spend over $100 for a rim and to rebulid a wheel on a $500 bike.

Thanks,

adam

I've heard that if you stick your wheel in the refrigerator or freezer it will true itself.

Just throw anything on there. Bike parts don't have to match you know.
