General Cycling Discussion - Free bikes and other junk in the Boston area

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just read this announcement in the local paper. I have no idea what kind of free bikes they have, but I thought folks might want to know about it.

Uh, hudson is not exactly the boston area.

It's less than 30 miles away. You could ride there on your bike. And I bet a good number of Hudson residents work in Boston and commute daily. I live way further out than Hudson and I do it. So to me, Hudson is the Boston area.

Bostonians are funny in their view of the world. Anything beyond Rt 128 is considered far from the Boston metro area. Beyond Rt 495 you're out in the "sticks". Don't get me wrong, I love central and western MA. I went to school out in Amherst and will probably settle out that way. I'm just describing the mentality of the typical Bostonian, which is pretty sad sometimes.

As for the bikes at this "free" sale, I suspect that they'd be kids bikes or old beaters. Might not hurt to pick one up for wintertime use.
