Crazy Cyclist

About 20 minutes ago I was walking to my local library ( I rode 24 miles yesterday, so I am taking today off) when I am walking through a yield and a green light. When this car starts going through the yield, of course he was on a cell phone, and he stopped about 2 inches away from me, he was probably distracted by his phone. Anyway I knock on his window and when he rolls it down, I asked him what the F**K he was doing? I told him to get his head out of his ass and get off his phone and to pay attention to his driving and then I gave him the finger and he drove off. I hate drivers like this.

Cell phone psychos are fun. One guy was zooming up to this intersection in the right hand turn lane. I popped out of that lane onto the sidewalk, just shy of being plowed by him. From the higher vantage point of the sidewalk I gazed into his car and saw him DIALING his cell phone. What kind of moron speeds in rush hour traffic DIALING his phone. You can atleast see when you are talking- you can't see @#$# when you're dialing! Geez.

I had heard on the news eariler this month that driving a car/truck while talking on a cell phone is equally dangerous as driving while intoxicated. I was on a ride eariler today going down a long strip of road on my way home. The shoulder was very wide so I usually have no worries about cars. I was biking along around 20-21 mph when I turned around to see a car speeding down the shoulder straight towards me, of course, on a cell phone. I proceeded to jump off my bike and pull myself and my bike onto the gravel off the shoudler to avoid getting hit. The driver then pulled into his driveway without a care. What really pushed my buttons was that he pulled into the shoulder a very great distance before he reached his driveway.

When I'm driving, and see a cell phone driver, I honk my horn at him and motion to his tire.

Great way to engender good-will between motorists and cyclists.

I don't want to have good will with someone who nearly ran me over becaue of his own stupidity. I wasn't on my bike when this happened so he doesn't know I am a cyclist.

The Mythbusters did a segment in this and proved it to be true.

I've almost been clipped several times around DC by cell phone drivers while walking in crosswalks. And this has been illegal for like a year and a half. People just don't care.
