I had an old miyata mountain bike frame lying around that I bought second hand as a beater maybe 7 years ago. Well, I got bored this summer and turned it into a single speed to bomb back and forth to school in boston as the derailer and chain ring were busted up anyhow.


I suppose I was just wondering if anyone knew miyatas well or could identify the "level" bike it was. It doesn't really matter either way since its just a beater but I'm curious none the less.

I don't have the number as the decals were toast except the miyata logo and a little sticker on the seat tube that simply stated it was a chromoly frame.

The bike has Shimano Exige crank arms so i'm guessing its an early 90's (91?) bike, it was yellow with black splatter paint an a red miyata logo (I believe)

any info is appreciated

Dude, you should go to the vintage forum with this. There's someone there that knows a lot about miyata's.

Just google: miyata site:www.bikeforums.net

and you'll see all his posts. I've never posted there, but I have done the search above in order to learn about my miyata conversion

ya, I believe his catch name is "T Mar", I read a bunch of his posts but they all to my knowlege referenced road bike and not mtb's. Also, most refernced the number of the bike, for example 110, 210, etc. where as I had nothing to reference other then the frame was indeed chromoly as well as the front fork and that the crank arms were Shimano exige with biospace chainrings plus the coloring etc.

oh well, suppose it doesn't matter to much as the bikes all together now anyhow, stripped and repainted (or reprimed atleast)....to late to turn back now ;)
