Now if you read my thread here about liking classic innovative weird movies, it might sound weird that I like rap too. WTF? Stanley Kubrick and Tupac Shakur!? :D
By saying I like rap, I mean, I like REAL rap. Not 50 Cent Ja Rule pop crap.
Fav rapper of all time is Tupac. Listen to his greatest hits cd and tell me he isn't the best ever.

I like some rap from Outkast, Run DMC and especially the Beastie Boys, they rule.
Don't suppose we have any germans or dutchies on this board? I'm into alot of german rap, Die Fantastischen Vier, Ferris MC, as well dutch group Osdorp Posse. De Osdorp Posse is Hardcore!

Outkast is alright I guess. Never heard of German rap but I can imagine what that'll be like, lol.
Ever listen to any 2pac?

You'd be suprised by what german rap is like...the G-Funk/Gangster rap sound doesn't seem to be as popular over there, I generally prefer it to american hip hop due to the fact they seem to rap with a bit more skill (I don't like the slow, drawling rapping used by 50 cent or snoop dog...50 cent sounds like he's drunk on all his tracks), music is generally a bit more complex too. Of course this is all just a generalisation.
Can't say I've listened to much tupac, though what I've heard I don't think I liked...although that may have more to do with the people playing it than the actual music (I had the same problem with a-holes playing metal). But I'll give it a shot, if you want recommend anything.

Kanye West and Jay Z are personal favs for post-2000 rap. They can rap about something meaningful on one track and on the next just have a good time. Outkast's double album was really dissapointing...not nearly as innovative or fresh as critics said it'd be.
I see what you're sayin D Train, I'm the same way. In my car you can find multiple classical CDs followed by a rap cd.

Sure, I'll recommend some songs.
You got the classics like California Love, Ambition az a Ridah, Troublesome '96, All Eyes on Me, Brendas got a baby, keep ya head up, dear mama.
You got his post-death new releases like Changes (great rapping), Live and Die in LA, and Hail Mary.
His best executions of rapping are in Troublesome '96, Ambition az a Ridah, and Changes.
Unbelievable speed rapping in Still Ballin.
Good flow and slow rapping in All Eyes on Me and Hail Mary.
There ya go.
You can find most of these songs on his greatest hit album available everywhere.
Jay Z is pretty good but he does some crap too. I HATE 50 cent. Being shot at 9 times doesn't make you the next 2Pac. Just think of what one extra bullet could've done.
..Most rap sucks nowadays. I listen to a few select people.

You and I must be about the same age because I was going to name around half of them. A Tribe Called Quest's "The Low End Theory" may be the best rap album ever (IMO anyway). It must be good because somebody stole mine. Eric B. and Rakim, EPMD, PE, Tribe, Cypress Hill, The Goats, and the Beastie Boys are way up on my list. I listened to that first Cypress Hill album until I almost wore out the vinyl.
Public enemy... thats about it for rap

Aesop Rock, Mr Lif, Sage Francis, J-Live, and such. Most of my favorite rappers nobody's ever heard of. :(
