Hello,

Can someone give me some (detailed) instructions on how to manual.

I've tried but I can't get it far enough up. And it feels like I'm tugging too hard on the handlebars

PS, I hate being a newbie rider ;)

There are two ways to get onto the rear tire that I have found. This is universal with mountain biking, trials and bmx's.

Method 1
1- Stick you butt way back over the rear axle. At the same time of sticking your butt back lift the front tire.
2 - To keep the momentun 'hump' your seat. Yo really have to be far back and you can't be afraid of falling backward.

method 2
1 - do a pedal kick to get the fron of th bike up. Essentially do a 1/4 power stroke to thrust the front end up.
2 - follow part 2 of above

One thing you need to be EXCEPTIONAL at is wheelies. To do a manual well you need to know you perfect balance point AND know how to feather the brake AND know how to hump to keep the balance point. Good luck.

Bloody hell...

I'll give it a go this afternoon.

If you've seen my other posts you'll have noticed I haven't had a BMX for long, and so I don't know how to wheelie a BMX. I'm not too hot at wheelying (heh, is that spelt right?) anyway (like on a mountain bike) but I'll keep practising. I have a mate whos doing pretty well at manuals so he'll give me a hand at it no doubt.

What do you mean by this? Do you mean a bit of a pedal while pulling up at the same time? (Like the start of a wheelie)

PS, I have no problems with falling over, as long as I don't land on my mobile or MD player ;)

Manual is more advanced than a wheelie. Learn how to do a wheelie and the manual will be easier.

Pedal kicking is placing you feet at 11 and 5 oclock. In order to get your front end up pedal a very fast 1/4 stroke while lifting the front end.

Why?

because you put no effort into your typing and its always really hard to read kinda like this and when you joined the forums you agreed to put an effort in to type properly. even though you keep saying you'll improve you never have which makes us look bad.

i could read that just fine. whats the big deal about it, atleast i type out the whole word and not like abreviate it. just because maybe the puncuation (sp?) isn't perfect i don't see where there's such a big deal

It's because you agreed to make an effort, and you don't. You make this forum look like a bunch of slack-jawed yokels the way you type.
