I just bought a used Miyata road bike, six fifteen model made in Japan. The front wheel is smaller than the back and I was wondering if that's a 'style' thing or if there is any added performance. Also, does anyone know when this model was first produced?
Thanks,
Barbara
It could be a knock off of the Terry bikes in small sizes designed for women. The front wheel was 24" to clear the downtube and prevent toe over lap without compromising frame geometry in other areas. Rear wheel was 700c or sometimes27".Many companies made knockoffs of the Terrys several years ago. Check www.terrybicycles.com.Might also be a special event or timetrial type bike.
