I am gonna go out next week and buy some look pedals and shoes. I need advice on which pedals and shoes to buy. I want look pedals because of the larger platform. I dont race right now but I do do a lot of riding for someone my age (16). I do about 800km a month which I guess would be a lot for a 16 yr old since they say dont strain urr growing muscles too much. So in this case, which look pedals would you guys recommend for me. I can get around 40% off because I sell those pedals in the shop and i get a 40% discount outta the book. Damn boss makes 10% off of me lol.
As for shoes, I guess carbon fibre soles are a must for the best power transfer to the pedals but I dont want to break the bank. I am able to get Diadora shoes and maybe Lake shoes at 40% off as I sell those brands in the store. I can get other brands too like Carnac but its a hassle as my boss has to go through his buddies to get those. So if there are any decent lake or diadora road shoes out then tell me as I can have those in 2-3 days.
Remember I'm a canuck here so canuck $$ please.

There's a promotion on right now at some bike shops in Canada -- tade in your old pedals [any old pedals] and gett he Laurent Jalabert edition LOOK PP396 pedals [basically the PP396's in black with JaJa's signature] for Less than $199. They list for @ $350 normally...

and for the extra $10 (from my book if u say its 350 retail) i can keep my normal pedals. So i guess you are recommending these pedals if i can get them for around 200 bux? how about the model down.

you can get the PP396 on eBay for about $ 70. If those are the ones with adjustable float, I have heard that the float mechanism can break easily. May be better off going with the simplified (and cheaper) version, and swapping cleats to change float. Check roadbikereview.com to see...

yah thats why i asked about the model down.. i heard the 396 knob thing brakes.. the model down is the same thing without the feature. id probably be better off with it.. its the 357 or 356 or something. Is it any good. How much in US or CDN does it retail for

Bryan,
I am also looking into getting LOOK pedals. I have also heard that the knob breaks so stay away from those. The LOOK PP-337 ($99.99) OR the LOOK PP-357($134.99) seem to be the way to go. Does anyone the the difference between the two pedals?? I am still trying to decide between those 2.

Ill prolly get the 357 only because i get 40% off on Look and I like the fact that its a higher model. :P
Umm yah wat is the difference between the 2. If the 357 is mainly just lighter, then I wannit.

The 357 has adjustable spring tension for entry and release. The 337 doesnt appear to have that feature.. I use that feature tho cuz depending on what mood Im in, I may be lazy and wanna get out easily or I may be in a good mood, wanna go fast, and stay clipped in. So looks like its te 357 for me.

Brian, (This time i spelled it right)
They both have adjustable spring tension.
See the LOOK USA website at:
LOOK USA PEDALS (http://www.lookcyclesusa.com/pedals.htm).
Therefore I ask again, what is the difference between the 2 pedals??

The 357 has a more aerodynamic design than the 337. Also, ive heard the some of the 357 axles have a bit of play in them. Has anyone had this problem.

Brian,
What does a "bit of play in them" mean??

Differences are...
1. New "Streamlined" designed
2. 337 - 180g each 357 - 185g each
3. Release Tension Adjustment 337 - 6 to 11 Nm
357 - 8 - 12 Nm
That is all I can see.

i believe when they say bit of play, you put them on the crank and u can wiggle the pedals up and down a little bit.
and what are you saying. Get the 337 or the 357
