Why would you get a helmet NOW?

You've already HAD your crash.

You'll be fine.

Wow you can survive going through a window without a helmet? I'd love to hear the details.

Glad you're alive too!

pics?
(someone had to say it)

Yeah, I've been wearing a helmet more when riding in traffic. I'm a lot more comfortable when wearing one. Good to hear you survived going through a windshield without one.

I ride extra careful in traffic so I don't need a helmet.

I've been thrown by a van at a stop sign and I didn't wear a helmet; fortunately it wasn't too serious, though. I have one but haven't ever worn it.

are you guys serious? do what you will with your dome, but you need to craft slightly better rationalizations if you are going to advertise them.

indeed. it seems that one simply ought to be honest and admit that they don't wear a helmet because they look goofy and are uncomfortable.

huh? I ride extra careful so I don't need a helmet.

Where's the fault in my logic?

I'm super cool so I don't need a helmet...cars wouldn't dare touch this coolness!...a helmet would only smear my hair gel and (slightly) decrease my coolness.

Recently I had a friend spend at least 10 minutes trying to explain exactly how a cycling cap in fact offers more protection than a traditional helmet.

A pink campy cap... better than a helmet. hmmmm

Paging Naz: post the brain fund poster.

I have always ridden with a helmet and always will. Always.

Ugh...should I really contribute to a helmet debate? Sure, why not.

I just a weird crash last night. My bike just slipped out from under me and I landed hard on my left side. My helmeted head smacked onto the asphalt. No damage besides some healthy road rash, and no visible damage to the helmet, but I could still feel it, and I'm glad it wasn't my bare head hitting the street.

It's disconcerting because I have no idea what happened. I consider myself to be a generally careful rider. I must have just hit a weird spot in the pavement. Still...what if this had happened during the day, instead of on a relatively empty street at night? *shiver*

On the plus side, my feet were completely free of my eggbeaters, without me even thinking about it. Goooooo Crank Brothers!

i was skating a pool with my buddie one morning and i let him try my board. he wasent used to how loos the trucks were n i watched him bounce his head off the bottom. helping him up and listening to him slur his words and the lack of short memory for a while was kinda scary. i dont wear a helmet though

I think some folks missed the sarcasm in lots of our earlier posts about not wearing helmets...I'm sorry, but we haven't yet agreed on a sarcasm font...

same thing happened to me a couple years ago...got some stitches in the emergency room, everything apparently ok. but then had a cat scan a week later and found out that i had broken my cheekbone and zygomatic arch...doc had to rebreak the bone to reconstruct things (ouch) and install a couple of permanent metal plates.

but at least they're titanium ;-)

Who cares if someone doesn't want to wear a helmet. I don't hassle people about I don't know about it. I don't go up to smokers I don't know and go "you know you're killing yourself!!!"

yeah I don't like how helmets look / feel but I've had a couple run-ins... one not so bad, no damage done, a mail van sideswiping me and then driving off without acknowledging it... the other still not so bad but my crankset bent and broke in half a week later, plus my front wheel was totalled. I thought everything was OK so I just got up and walked away (this dude in a lexus jumped the gun on a light, it was still red when I was crossing the street). A couple bruises both times but enough to make me want a helmet, just in case.

To helmet, or not to helmet. That is the question.
A good defense is your best offence.
A cat in a hat. Imagine that!
Wrap that rascal.
A stitch in time saves nine.
What, me worry?
No, really I'm KO, really.
What's that in the road? A head?
It's always about how you look, you know?
Sarcastic Font applied.
