Mountain Biking - NASHbar sucks---> what to get now?

Okay, after falling over 5x yesterday, banged up both sides of my body and severly sprained my right wrist, NOW im returning them for credit on a new pair of shimanos. IM thinking about the 536's. The 515's look like they belong on road bikes although they are also nice. What do you guys think? Im not going to buy a pair b/c they are cheap anymore. I did it and i paid the price.

The 515's don't necessarily belong on road bikes. While I said I used them on my road bike, it was only because they were less expensive, the shop had them around, and they were lighter than the 536's. While I would recommend the 536's over the 515's in general, I know people who use 515's off-road and are happy with them. The way it was explained to me when I first purchased my 536's was that they cleared mud better than the 515's. So, you choose: do you want better mud clearing ability or lighter weight.

515's are compatent mtb pedals. Personally I would reccomend the Time Aliums over them. You may pay a little more, but you get a lot more. But we all know my personal preferance on pedals.

DOH, the 536 are discontinued!!! what is replacing them?

What is wrong with the 515's? Is your foot unclipping or what?

515's are a death trap. Don't just buy a pedal because it's cheap. you will regret buying those. DONT DO IT:crash:

I am only recommending the 536's over the 515's based on my experience with both pedals. From my experience, i would say that in my opinion, the average mountain biker would be more happy with 536's for off-road riding. They definitely will show a performance and quality increase when compared to the Nashbar pedals, especially if they are cared for correctly. Only you can make the decision as to which ones to buy, though. Just by the way you said, "I hope I don't regret it", it makes me worry that if you don't like the pedals, this might come back at me. If your too worried about whether or not you will like them, don't buy them tonight. Ask the local LBS, or other riders in the area. A very good resource is also www.mtbr.com. I am almost certain that both of these pedals are rated there. You could review hundreds of opinions, instead of just those here.

I've seen a lot of retailers selling the eggbeaters for 89.99 now, why not save a few bucks and pick up some of those?

Have you tried Times? Speedplay frogs get good reviews also.

Why are the eggbeaters so good? For one they're easy to get in and out of. I've never had a problem with a situation where i couldn't get out of the pedals when i wanted to. 2)They shed mud like none other. opposite of the 515's in that department. 3) Easy to get into. no tiny adjustments to mess with. just set'em on and ride'em. 4)Customer service. you can like cdude said actually talk to them on AOL and they'll respond and have a conversation. 5) they're cheap compared to other top of the line pedals
