My wife, after months of discussion and indecision, bought a new bike. She has been riding an old Sears three-speed, which made even casual early-morning coffee runs a chore. We were in the LBS last Saturday and they happened to be having a big sale. I convinced her to test-ride a road bike and she finally realized what a difference a modern bike can make. She settled on a Lemond Tourmalet at an excellent price, which makes us an all-Lemond family, since I ride a Buenos Aires. She even came home with shoes, gloves, and a pair of what my son likes to call "funny butt-padded shorts".
After our first ride together, she admitted that her definition of a hill had to be revised and that she did not get as much exercise on the new bike. I guess we will have to pick up the pace a bit. :D
