I've been looking for a bike under $400 and came across a Hummer folding bike at Sam's Club for right at $400. I googled the bike and most are selling what looks to be the same model for $650. Is this a durable bike? Who has one? The bike would be used for a daily 1.5 mile commute to work/school and riding in the evening with my wife for exercise. No more than 5 miles a day I would imagine.
I'm a pretty hefty fellow (pushing 330lbs.) and don't want to buy something I'll wear out too quickly.
TIA

The Hummer is built by Montague, and I've ridden a 1991 Montague-Schwinn BiFrame for fourteen years. It's a quality, ruggedly built bike. I don't think you should be concerned about it breaking or wearing out prematurely, but it probably wouldn't hurt to check with Montague at http://www.montagueco.com/montaguebike.html about the weight capacity of the Hummer. The BiFrame folds at the seatpost, and I bought mine to carry in the baggage compartment of my Cessna 172. The thing I really like about the Montagues is that you really don't make much of a sacrifice in function or ride quality to get the folding portability.
The folded size of the BiFrame is 30" x 39" x 16", and it rides just like a "normal" mountain bike.
