Jim Caple has apparently been turned on to biking since coming back from the Tour de France. It's good to see some sportswriters finally latching on the to the tack that bicycling also can have political ramifications and help reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

I agree with most of the article, but would love to hear other viewpoints.

Not an "other viewpoint" but one that agrees that this is the right time, and that just a bit of effort to capitolize on the Texas pair, could be a huge boost to cycling.

I also loved this quote: "I ask you: What's a better show of real patriotism -- cutting foreign oil consumption by occasionally riding a bike or slapping a flag sticker on your SUV that gets 11 miles to the gallon?"

Time to turn this little wave of interest into a huge swell of enthusiasm.
