i am looking to buy a 3-speed cruiser but don't know which brand to buy. Local stores carry mostly electas, treks, and schwinns. Is there much of a difference in the quality of these brands? Are there any other brands I should look at?

Hey drach,
If you haven't checked out Jamis, do so. I own a Jamis Earth Cruiser 4 and absolutely love it. I have three other bikes for different purposes and use the Jamis for jaunts around the local parks, the neighborhood, etc. It has a Nexus in-hub 4 speed that is butter smooth, and with the coaster brake has a clean look. I have changed the handlebar and the saddle to allow for a riding position that is more to my liking, but the rest of the bike is stock. The cool factor on this bike is off the charts! I have yet to go hang around the park or go to any function with people around without getting several compliments
