Prior to Katrina. Now a rusting hunk. Once we get a better grip on rebuilding the house we start looking for a new ride.

Ok,
Here are a couple of pics, as promised. The bike is a 1960's Columbia Twosome that my wife and I bought on Craigslist. We were told it was from the 60's and I haven't done any research on the serial number. We made a few changes: took off the extra rusty fenders, replaced the balloon tires with puncture resistant Bontrager's, and replaced the old torn seats with comfy new ones. Of course, my wife had to have pink streamers. We have had so much fun. We've gone all over Manhattan. Last weekend, we rode across the George Washington Bridge into New Jersey. The first pic was taken in the Cloisters in Manhattan, and the second at Columbus Circle.
Very cool. Funny how style points can come from the least expensive bikes sometimes. That seems to have a high fun/price quotient as well.

Here is a picture of my new triplet. I just got it yesterday from Mark Johnson at Precision Tandems. It took a little getting used to (because it is so long), but it is an amazing bike and great joy for our family.

My kids have a blast with me on this junker. We don't usually ride sans rear tire.

Sorry to see that Burley got rid of the continuous down/boob-tube (with the open end) and the built-like-a-bridge curved rear triangle and mono-seatstay arrangement! V=e=r=y distinctive!
Test rode one of the first Burley's produced, same color Duet, but had thumb-shifters mounted on the tops of the dropbars. Also: no adjustable stoker stem 'til later, when it became an 'option' item.
But things evolve . . .
Pedal on TWOgether!

Here are some of pictures of my triplet. My wife and daughter are the stokers but when my wife is not with us, we bring a stuffed animal instead.
This is our first tandem. Picture taken yesterday on the climb up to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Try not to land on your stoker next time... bad form!
Here is a pic of our new (to us) 1973 Schwinn Twinn. We upgraded to a Shimano Nexus 7-speed transmission and roller brake. It rides great, we rode it 26 miles in a community ride a few weeks ago, and did a Halloween cruiser ride Saturday dressed as bikers (the motorcycle kind).
