I apologize if this has been done to death, but I did a search and didn't come up with much.

I have a Chevy Cavalier which I don't intend to keep any longer than a year and after that will try to buy a high efficiency Volkwagon or something similar. I will not be buying a truck of some kind just to lug the bent around.

I have a brand new Burley TAiko 2005 which can be used as a SWB or LWB bike, and I intend to keep it a loooong time.

What would you experts (at least compared to this noob) recommend for racks in my situation? I'd need a rack where I could drive the bike for long distances. I called Burley for recommendations, but they weren't much help.

We haul our Rans Screamer (tandem bent) around on a Draftmaster. The rack is more expensive than most, but, it is awesome. Nothing touches the car. I am too old, and too smart, to lift a heavy frame up on the roof of the car. (Subaru Forester) The bike does not stick up any higher than a DF bike mounted on a roof rack, and with a wheelbase of 74+ inches, I don't worry about the bike or wheels sticking out beyond the sides of the car. At no time have I regretted spending 10% of the value of the bike on a good, secure rack. After using the rack for 5000+ km, I have nothing but praise for the Draftmaster system.

So, what other racks do you folks have?
