Introductions - Hello from Harleysville, PA.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello Everybody! My husband and I are in the market for bicycles. This forum is very informative and will be a great asset as we shop for our bicycles. Neither of us have ridden since we were kids and we're really looking forward to this!
We are thinking of hybrid / comfort models. We think we'll do most hard packed, gravel and paved roads/trails.
Take care,
Silver Speed

Several nice shops in your area: Adventure Bicycle Co, in Hatfield; Indian Valley Bike Works, in Harleysville; others in Trappe, Souderton, Lansdale. A good shop will not just answer your questions but also help you ask the right kinds of questions in the first place.
If you intend to do rides like the Perkiomen Trail heading north to Green Lane, you probably want to stay away from comfort bikes.

Hi-yo Silver,
I just joined the forum and caught your thread. I figure that you likely have your bikes by now, but I wanted to mention that BikeSport (http://www.bikesportbikes.com/) on Main St. in Trappe is a decent shop. My wife and I were in the similar situation earlier last summer, and we purchased our Trek mtbs there.
I knew that a mtb was the choice for me, but my wife considered mtb and comfort. She was very pleased with her choice to go with the mtb. I agree with Irzipris' comment about the Perkiomen, which we biked nearly every weekend during the summer with the exception of trips to the Wissahickon and the Schuykill. Hope that all worked out for you.
Regards,

Hi Silver - I've always bought our bikes @ Bikeworks (we live in Harleysville too.) Ed is very knowledgable. I ride a no suspension MTB, my wife a comfort hybrid, and she loves it. We're on the Perk trail twice a week when its nice out. Take care.

Silver Speed: You may enjoy group rides sponsored by Suburban Cyclists Unlimited (www.suburbancyclists.org), which offers Tuesday/Thursday evening rides in Harleysville from April through October; I think that Bike Works may also host rides.
Hey guys, new memeber here too but from Hatfield (I work in Harleysville, does that count?)
FWIW, I am in the market too for a new bike and I was less then impressed with the selection at Adventure. I went to Pedeler's in Lansdale and liked the shop much better. Still haven't picked my bike up yet though, but I thought the shop was nicer...again, YMMV.
Nice to know there are some people here in my area though, since I have only lived here a short time and don't really have any friends that are into cycling.
Good luck on your bike hunt!
