You will get many more responses if you post this in the general mountain bike section.

alright, so I just saw this post, two days later. As lowcel said post in the main forum. Personally, I would go with the iguana(maybe ranier?). Most of the raleighs I've lifted have felt especially heavy compared to their similarly priced counterparts, so I can only imagine the trend would continue. Also, I don't like the fact that raleighs top of the line hard tails end so early in the quality level. I like hardtails and I'd like to see some 12 and $1400 ones.

Cant go wrong with the Giant. I started riding 2 years ago & I bought a Giant Yukon & slowly started upgrading it. Great bike raced it hard(well for me & at the time) for a season, but upgrading is a slippery slope once you start down that path there is no returning back into a normal human being take me for example my $600 Yukon has morphed into an '04 Giant N.R.S. full XT &XTR componets (including hubs) & 1 empty bank account! Freinds & Family keep saying something about an interventionj/k I would go with the Giant Gread frame & all around great feeling bike

I have been riding a Giant Iguana since June of 03, almost 2k trail only miles on it. Bought it for the 23in aluminum frame, I have upgraded and replaced, (only after the parts failed), front shock, cranks and front rings (03 had the hated bradded chainrings), chain, freewheel and rear wheel.( I had stressed the factory wheel beyond recoverey).
The frame has held up well to 3 season of Colorado mtn biking, I am happy with it.
Go with the Giant. I own an Iguana and it has never given me any problems. I also used to own a Raleigh, it gave me nothing but problems for the 2 years I had it.
